The mayor of the city is its representative and its supreme executive body. The office of mayor is a public office. A mayor’s term of office ends when a newly elected mayor takes the oath of office. The mayor is deputised by the deputy mayor in the scope laid down by the mayor in the written document of appointment. The mayor shall appoint a deputy mayor within 60 days of taking the oath of office; if he or she does not do so, the city council shall elect a deputy mayor. Only a member of the city council can be deputy mayor. The mayor can appoint two deputy mayors and set their order.
